Tamcoloy Tube-metal contains tungsten carbide particles encased in a mild steel tube. Tamcoloy tube-metal provides
excellent traction and extends the life of the shoe.
The most common sizes are coarse (3/8" tube) medium (5/16" tube) fine (1/4" tube), and very fine (1/8" tube).
The most
prevalent size on the race track is the 1/8" Tamcoloy tube metal while off the track the 1/4" Tamcoloy tube metal is preferred.
Tamcoloy tube metal is applied with an oxygen and acetylene torch or an acceptable equivalent
gas.
This particular material may also be used on farm and ranch implements such as plows, disc, and cutters. |
